The Grimsby Golf Club

A Mixed Open Greensome Pairs format golf tournament was held at Grimsby Golf Club on Sunday 10th June 2007 playing for the prestigious Edgar Lee trophy which has been played for annually since the early 1970?s. The event attracted entries from over 20 different clubs with participants travelling from as far afield as Leicestershire as well as neighbouring clubs. The testing format of medal play with each partner being responsible for 9 drives each is a challenge to golfers of all levels with mistakes being punished.
The course which was in superb condition played generously on the day in good conditions.
Whether it was local knowledge or not but Grimsby members swept the board finishing in the top 3 places with a member Dave Emberson playing with Mrs Maureen Hunter from Ganstead Park, Hull in 4 place. In first place was John Brocklseby and Tracy Wilkinson with a net score of sixty five who beat off previous winners Paul and Diane Coutts who carded 66 points finishing with a better back nine than Gary Simpson and Julie Allen.
The best gross score on the day was carded by Mr & Mrs J Page from Ganstead Park, Hull with a 79.
